Cancelling your mortgage direct debit

If you have any questions about cancelling your mortgage direct debit, watch this video:

When should you cancel your direct debit with your current lender during a remortgage or house move? It’s crucial not to cancel your direct debit until you receive confirmation from your solicitor that completion has occurred. Your current lender might still debit your usual mortgage payment on completion day, but rest assured, this will be refunded to you promptly.

Cancelling your direct debit prematurely could lead to your lender being unable to process the payment, potentially impacting your credit rating negatively.
